BACK   THE END   RETURN TO DAY 1

10/25 14:54 - Tokyo(東京)/Ikegami(池上)

This day was my last in Japan. This was how much crap I had to carry before I was off to the airport.

I got up this morning all dressed up in suit and tie for my job interview in Shinagawa(品川). I only had 2-3 hours of sleep because of last minute preparations. Despite my worries, the panel interview went really well and it wouldn't have been possible without the help from my friends in Japan.

日本にいらっしゃる皆さまへ: 色々有り難う御座いました・・・!

So, this was my 3rd and conclusive journey to Japan. There were so many unique memories as well as unavoidable hardships that really made the 21-day trip all the while to endure. I was able to purchase medicine in Japan to keep me up and running when I had gotten sick in Hokkaido. And thanks to so much generosity from the hosts and hostesses in giving helpful detours and directions, I was able to purchase a new digital camera (in the middle of virtually "nowhere") and still put this mini album together without missing a day of photos. As for my Nikon Coolpix that broke on Mt. Kurodake, it was eventually repaired after my return. If I could, I would thank that JAL security personnel for helping me out w/ my Ninja star ordeal.

Showa Street. Going east a couple blocks, there's a hotel where I stayed on my first trip to Japan in '02.

Here's what the front of the store looks like. I particularly like Koiwa as a place to stroll around. It has a homey and safe atmosphere compared to other parts of Tokyo.

10/24 16:37 - Tokyo(東京)/Koiwa(小岩)/Sakura Toys

To finish off the evening, I told Enazo that I need to make a pilgrimage to a toy store. We almost got off ShinKoiwa(新小岩), but because I normally have pretty good photographic memory, we got off the right one--Koiwa(小岩). The first time I went to Japan, I always hated that they have a location name and then also a SHIN-counterpart for a totally different location. SHIN(新) just means "new" like New Mexico, etc. Anyhow, here's the Transformer toyline that was available at the time. They had the new version of Superion available so I chose that as the item to add to my collection.

All done! We covered quite alot but unfortunately we only breezed by without taking our time to admire the interior of most vehicles as you can tell by the timestamps of my photos. As we left toward Makuhari-Eki, there was some kind of show going on w/ a real live monkey. I can imagine this guy just trying to make some living off of traffic being driven by the auto show..
