Eastwind Import will have a sale at the following time & location:

Sunday, July 22, 1-4pm

I highly recommend listening to sample tunes at http://www.eastwindimport.com/ and consider buying some albums in person so hopefully you'll be able to meet & chat with Hajime (a.k.a. the most distinguished jazz audiophile who currently runs Eastwind Import) in person.

Next Meeting: 04/08/2006 - Posted By AoiTori on 04/03/06 16:36.35

Reminder: Next meeting is this Saturday, April 8th, 2006 from 1-3:30.

Hello everyone! The beginning of this month in Japan, as with the end of last month, is popular for "hanami"(花見), or flower-viewing during the bloom-time of Cherry Blossoms(sakura/桜) as I had mentioned last month. A friend from the Ehime Prefecture, who is a home-garden enthusiast, mentioned that the blossoming usually starts from the South(i.e. Kyuushuu/九州) and ends at the North(i.e. Hokkaidou/北海道). So if you are interested in the "hanami" experience this year, your best bet is to go straight to Hokkaidou. And for those who don't yet know what the official flower of Japan is, it is NOT the Cherry Blossom, as one might have guessed; it is the Chrysanthemum (kiku/菊), which is also the Imperial Seal.

I hope having actual photos would ease the problem of
locating the "HT Lot"(for regular meetings) or explaining
its exact location.

Reminder: Next meeting is this Saturday, February 11th, 2006 from 1-3:30.

We had a great potluck in January and we're looking forward to having
you again. As you may already know, this month is known for Valentine's Day,
a day when one makes a love confession or renews the romance with a loved
one, usually buying gifts ranging from a box of chocolates to a brand-new
car. (Seriously joking about the car.) Not sure if it is a growing trend but
this day could also be the day when couples decide to split-up, which is quite
the contrary to the original intent of the event. As far as in Japan, I heard
that this is the day when girls would confess their love and buy gifts to
the guys they like; however, the guys do not buy anything in return --
there is a separate day in Japan called "White Day," which is when the guys
do the same for the girls in acceptance of their Valentines.... March 14th.

For the meeting, please bring $1, which helps pay for the miscellaneous
meeting costs.
